The aluminum, zinc and magnesium die casting industry has been my path for the last 35+ years from start-up of new facilities and mechanical installation of all machines and equipment/robotics (ABB, Rimrock, Advanced) to producing a casting from raw material to a finished product (chrome plate, paint, clear coating, powder coat, anodizing, sanding, vibratory finish) and machining operations along with extensive tooling maintenance and process control capabilities. Throughout the years, I have done upgrading and consulting for struggling die casting plants. I held positions such as Plant Manager/Superintendent, Production Manager, Supervisor and have operated, done set-up and troubleshooting on a variety of machine makes, models and tonnage including, Techmire, Quantum, B & T, UBE, Lester and Buhler-Prince just to name a few. Numerous management-manufacturing courses, seminars and conferences have contributed greatly to my years of expertise, knowledge and skill.
Taking on the challenge of difficult tooling which disrupts process, creates downtime, scrap, eats up profit and at its best can be a hazard is one of the strongest areas of my die cast accomplishments. There are a host of problems that can contribute to difficult tooling but starting out as an "old school operator", and being called upon to "make it run", there aren't many dies, if any, that have challenged me and won.
Being very hands on, with years of experience including teachings from my mentor John Hornick - Die Cast Pioneer and father-in-law, I am able to offer and share my knowledge and skill to help your company sort out its production problem areas.
